University of Exeter PhD Scholarships for Black British Researchers in Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, UK

The University of Exeter is pleased to announce the establishment of the University of Exeter PhD Scholarships for Black British Researchers in the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. This initiative is funded by philanthropic donations from University of Exeter alumni, with the aim of supporting Black British researchers in pursuing a 4-year fully-funded PhD program.

The primary goal of these scholarships is to enhance access and participation in PhD study for talented Black British students. The scholarships provide comprehensive funding and support to enable students to succeed in their PhD program and beyond. The benefits include 4 years of stipend funding at the UKRI rate, funding for tuition fees at the Home fee rate, a research training support grant, and the opportunity for a placement of up to 6 months.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the University of Exeter PhD Scholarships for Black British Researchers, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Have UK nationality and ‘Home’ tuition fee status
  • Identify as belonging to any Black ethnic group, including Black African, Black Caribbean, Black Other, Mixed – White and Black Caribbean, Mixed – White and Black African, or other mixed backgrounds that include Black African, Black Caribbean, or Black Other
  • Not already enrolled in a PhD program at the University of Exeter.

How to Apply

  1. Find a supervisor in one of the specified research areas within the Faculty.
  2. Complete the application form, including a research proposal, personal statement, CV, and evidence of prior qualifications.
  3. Arrange for two referees to provide references.
